Custom design vs template design.

We are often asked how the custom site design differs from the template one. And so as not to explain each time, I decided to write about it.

Well, let’s clear that up.
The template design is a ready-made, or in other words, standard design. Templates or themes for sites are created by designers and webmasters using various CMS. To make the site work, after installing the engine, for example, WordPress on the hosting, you need to buy/download and install the selected template.

Each template has its own design, structure and some basic functionality. You can choose a template with a ready-made design for a certain topic. For example, a template for a construction company, for a portfolio site, or for a travel blog.

But you must understand that a site created on the basis of such a template will not be unique. And on the Internet, there will be a huge number of sites similar to yours.

Usually, after installing the template, the site looks crooked and awkward. This happens because it is impossible to perfectly select a template suitable for a specific project. Therefore, all sorts of edits begin. Corrected colour schemes, sizes, structure and more …

Edits to the template code often take a long time because the code is not clean and sometimes it takes a lot of time to change a little thing. Often, adding the necessary functionality causes conflicts and malfunctions.

Key Benefits of Template Design
The two main advantages are price and timing.

The cost of the template itself + the price for installation and configuration will cost several times cheaper than creating a custom design.
Time is only needed to configure the template, which is faster than developing a new unique site.
This ends the benefits of templates. To understand the bigger picture, you need to consider both options, and only then you can understand what to choose. Therefore, let’s now consider the custom design of the site.

The custom design is also called designer, exclusive or handwritten.

This site is truly a work of authorship. Design, shapes, sizes, structure, elements – all this is drawn from scratch to the specific needs of the customer. A design layout is created that is unique in its kind. This means that on the vast expanses of the Internet you will not find the exact same site.

The site code is also written from scratch. It is simple and understandable for editing, which means that changing or adding some element of the site will not be difficult. After design and layout, the site is “pulled” by CMS (in our case, WordPress) so that the owner has the opportunity to edit and add the necessary materials.

It is clear that such a site is more expensive and takes longer. But then, who orders them and why? What is the point of ordering uniqueness if there is a cheap alternative?

Will find out from the next article.
