Things that annoy your site visitors

One of the principles of inbound marketing is not to annoy people. Poor user experience can lead to a large number of failures, poor organic search positions, and a simply bad reputation.

Ready to find out what you shouldn’t do when developing a new site?

1. Downloading takes forever (
The longer the website loads, the more visitors are blamed for the content provider, not for their mobile operators.

2. Bad navigation
When someone gets to your site, does he know what to do? Where to go? What should be the next steps?

3. Multimedia content that plays automatically
If someone enjoys what he thinks was a quiet viewing session, and suddenly they bombard him with a theme song or a talking head on a video to play which a person did not press “play” – especially if he cannot find the “stop” button – what do you think the user will do?
Despite the fact that Facebook and Twitter now automatically play videos in our feeds, note that the sound is always muted on them unless the user decides to turn it on.

4. Disorientation animation
You are probably already familiar with the blink test – for three seconds, users must navigate any web page before they click the back button in their browser.

Animations, auto-play videos, blinking paid advertisements, and other interactive entertainment may seem really cool, but if they are too intrusive or confusing, they can distract the visitor during these critical three seconds. Keep any animation on your site simple

5. The presence of a contact form without additional contact information
There is nothing wrong with the “Contact Us” module on your site, but it should never be the only means of communication between you and your customers. If your visitor or client needs help, they want it now. They do not want to fill out the form and wait.
Let people have the opportunity to contact you by email, phone or social networks, and make this information available on your website.

6. The site does not provide a clear explanation of what your company is doing.
It’s very unpleasant to click on the company’s website and not get a clear idea of what the company actually offers.

Good web sites clearly explain who they are, what they do and/or what you (the visitor) can do there. If you are a well-known brand or company (e.g. Coca-Cola), you may be able to avoid this. However, most companies still need to answer these questions so that each visitor knows what is in the “right place”.

7. There are no buttons for sharing on socials
If you write for people, you probably have some really interesting content that people want to share on social networks. That’s why it is a huge disappointment to scroll up and down in search of the Share button, only to understand that they are not on your site.

Convenient sharing options on socials mean that your content will become more visible, thereby increasing website traffic, increasing search engine rankings and providing more opportunities to attract potential customers.

8. The site uses headings that do not match your content
Great titles make people follow links to read what you wrote. But if they come across content that is not related to the headline that you provided, you disappoint visitors, and they often leave your site forever.

9. The site contains a text with a call to action copy that does not correspond to the proposal.
This not only offends your visitors but also damages your reputation, not to mention your conversion rates

10. The presence of internal links that are not convenient for the user
If everything done correctly, internal links are useful for both readers and the website. Include internal links only to relevant pages on your site that will improve reader perception, and do so only for text that makes more sense.

11. The site displays image sliders that load forever
Image sliders, also known as image carousels, serve as a way to showcase multiple images using space efficiently. But you have to be careful with them because there is a right and wrong way to use them.

Remember: the longer the web page loads, the more people leave it. Therefore, make sure your site loads quickly and does not require a reboot.

That’s all
