The page weight of a site is one of the metrics that affect the ranking of pages in the Google SERP. This parameter shows search engines the authority level of the page. By increasing the page weight online, you can influence the ranking of the site, its traffic and profitability. The calculation of the page weight of the site is based on the number of external and internal links leading to each of the URLs.

What can be the weight of the page?
Page weight is actually two parameters that depend on different factors. Let’s figure out what static weight and dynamic weight are, what they depend on and how they change.

The static page weight of a site is the sum of the weight of all internal and external links leading to a specific URL. The indicator is independent of user requests. Links from different types of documents are taken into account:

HTML;
DOC files;
PDF documents, etc.

Dynamic weight is a volatile and fluid metric. It depends on user requests, their clicks on links, content on the resource, anchor texts and other elements on the pages. The more often the links are clicked, the higher the dynamic weight will be.

This means that it is unrealistic to accurately measure the dynamic weight. But you can understand how it changes thanks to the statistics of URL views in Google Analytics. The more often an HTML document is viewed, the greater its dynamic weight. Also, the indicator depends on the activity of users.
