Google has announced a new Google tag, which aims to “provide more options, improve data quality and use new features—without requiring additional code.”
The Help states that the global site tag (gtag.js) is now a Google tag. All existing implementations of gtag.js will continue to work and automatically become a Google Universal Tag. Just like the global site tag before, the new Google tag must be installed on all pages of the web resource.
The new Google tag allows you to set up and track events on a page right from the user interface—no developer resources are required. You can customize it with the updated tag screen in Google Ads and Google Analytics. The same code works for both products.
